Why are Canadian artists taking over?! But seriously, what's in the Canadian water that brings all this talent? Kaytranada has been doing music, both on the production and artistry side, but this most recent collab got our attention. This song also features Anderson. Paak who we fell in love with after Drugs!
Who sent you?! And all the way from Aschaffenburg, Germany at that?! We weren't prepared to hear such a sensual electronica R&B sound resembling The Weeknd, and it not coming from The Weeknd or another Canadian talent. Our confusion at first by German artist and producer J.O.Y is just thankfulness now. What he has is literally music to our ears. With 3 EPs already out we're not too sad that we just discovered J.O.Y in 2016 because we have tons of music to catch up to. We've provided them below to awaken your ears but highly suggest you subscribe to his Soundcloud for even more recent amazingness. Hopefully he'll become another international svperdvperstar we believe he has the potential to be.
A click on this profile, a click on that person’s friends list, a click over here, and so on is how we found 11Xi. Funny that people have seriously gotten discovered by six degrees of social separation like that. But really as soon as we heard 11's voice and the OVO style (he’s from Toronto, Canada so makes sense) we instantly added him to our favorites. Prior to his recently released self titled debut EP he had the whole mystery element behind him with purposely few IG videos and posts in black and white. You can say we were on before he got on (- folks like to brag about that). But now the push is real and we support it! Listen to the 7-track EP below: We can see…
A couple nights ago we were at a bar and got to talking with some strangers, because isn't that what bars are for? Well it turned out the group of strangers did music and so they decided to send us their EPKs the next day. We were pleasantly surprised in particular by Indigo Blak because his sound was not what we were expecting at all! From the tracks sent over "She" instantly became our favorite and the music video made it even more amazing. It's basically sensual tension captured visually. Watch below and see what we mean. Do you love it or do you love it?
